1. Data stored on your device

Everything you do while learning is saved locally on your phone or tablet, separately for each language course you add. This includes lessons completed, words learned and saved, review schedules, mistakes to practise, game scores and records, coins, XP, level, streak, achievements, stickers, the nickname and avatar you pick for your profile, and your settings (app language, theme, sound, daily goal and reminders).

This data stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you use one of the optional online features described in section 2. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data in Android settings deletes it.

If Backup is turned on in your Android device settings, Android may include the App's data in your Google account's device backup so it can be restored on a new phone. That backup is handled by Google under your Google account settings; we cannot access it.

2. Optional online features

Two features need our server. Both are off until you choose to use them, and neither asks for your email, phone number or real name. Our server runs on Cloudflare.

League (weekly leaderboard)

When you join the League, the App creates a pseudonymous account and sends:

Your display name, avatar and weekly XP are visible to other players in the same weekly group. Please do not use your real name or other personal details as your display name. Our server automatically hides email addresses and social-media handles in display names before showing them to others.

Backup & Sync

If you turn on backup (Profile → Backup & restore), the App uploads a compressed copy of your learning progress and App settings (the data listed in section 1, for each of your courses) and then keeps it up to date automatically. The backup is linked to your user ID and can only be read with your secret passcode. To move your progress to a new device, you use a recovery code shown in the App or a 6-digit link code that expires after 10 minutes and works only once. Restoring a backup replaces the progress on the new device.

3. Voice packs & update checks

When you add a language course, the App downloads that language's pronunciation audio ("voice pack") from our server. From time to time it also checks whether a newer version of the App is available. These requests do not include your progress, nickname or any account information.

Like any internet service, our server and our hosting provider Cloudflare receive technical information with each request (IP address, time, the address requested, app version and basic device information). We use these logs only to run the service, keep it secure and prevent abuse, and keep them only for a short time.

4. Advertising

The free version of the App shows ads provided by Google AdMob: banners, full-screen ads at natural breaks (for example after a lesson), native ads, and optional reward videos that you choose to watch in exchange for in-App rewards. We do not show ads during gameplay.

To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process your device's advertising ID, IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Depending on your choices and where you live, ads may be personalised based on this information.

Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

5. In-app purchases

Purchases (such as Remove Ads) are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment card or billing details; Google only tells the App whether the purchase was successful so it can unlock what you bought. Google Play's handling of your payment information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Crash reports & analytics

To find and fix bugs and to understand how well the App and our app-install campaigns perform, the App may use Firebase Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase, both provided by Google:

We do not attach your nickname, League ID or learning content to these reports, and we have turned off the use of Analytics data for ads personalisation.

7. Microphone & other permissions

PermissionWhy the App asks for it
MicrophoneOnly for the pronunciation game ("Sound Recognizer"), when you tap the mic button. Your speech is passed to your device's speech-recognition service (for example Google's), which turns it into text so the App can check your pronunciation. Depending on your device, that service may process audio on the device or on its provider's servers under the provider's own privacy policy. The App does not record, store or upload your voice. You can refuse this permission and still use the rest of the App.
NotificationsOptional daily reminders (for example to keep your streak). Reminders are scheduled on your device; you can turn them off in the App or in Android settings.
Internet & network stateTo download voice packs, show ads, check for updates and use the optional online features.
VibrationGame feedback; you can turn it off in the App.

Words that have no recorded audio are read aloud by your device's text-to-speech engine. Certificates you earn are shared only when you choose to share them, through Android's share menu.

8. How we use information

9. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

10. How long we keep it

Data held by Google (ads, Play, Firebase) is kept according to Google's own retention policies.

11. Your choices & deleting your data

Request deletion of your League account and backup. Email miraclefunbox@gmail.com with the subject “LearnKit data deletion” and include your recovery code (in the App: Profile → Backup & restore → Recovery code) so we can find your account and confirm it is yours. We will delete your League profile, scores, league history and backup from our server within 30 days and reply to confirm. Data stored only on your device is not affected — delete it as described above.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, contact us at the address below; we will not treat you differently for doing so. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract to provide the League and Backup features you ask for; consent for personalised ads where required; and our legitimate interests in keeping the App secure, fixing crashes and funding a free App with non-personalised ads.

13. Children

LearnKit is designed for teenagers and adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information — for example by joining the League — please contact us and we will delete it.

14. Security & international transfers

All communication between the App and our server is encrypted with HTTPS, and backups can only be read with your account's secret passcode. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information. Keep your recovery code private: anyone who has it can restore your progress.

Our service providers operate worldwide, so your information may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
